TAKE NOTICE
Herrick's Regiment is now Recruiting Able-bodied, Sober citizens to Participate in recreating the period 1775-1783.
Herrick's Regiment is a recreation of the first military force raised by the State of Vermont after declaring her independence from Great Britain in 1777. The unit is open to anyone showing the necessary interest and commitment, and a willingness to abide by the rules of the organization.
The unit has a number of ways in which an individual can participate:
- a) Infantry; armed and equipped as a typical soldier of the period, carries a musket and bayonet.
- b) Artilleryman; does not necessarily carry a personal arm.
- c) Scout; similar to infantry except is usually armed with a rifle.
- d) Seaman; serves aboard the "Liberty" an 18' sternboat.
- e) Camp-follower; dresses in civilian dress and carries on camp duties.
- f) Musician; dresses in a manner similar to Infantry and plays an appropriate instrument.
- g) Other; we would be able to work in civilian craftsmen in trades appropriate to a military camp.
Participation in one of the above categories does not preclude participating in others as well. Most of us fill different roles at different times, some stay with a single portrayal.
